Understanding Symbol Suffixes in IUX: Why Do Symbols Look Different?

Official IUX Help Centre guidance, arranged in a distraction-free reader while preserving the source article’s images and embedded videos.

Official source updated February 25, 2026

While using the IUX trading platform, you may notice that some trading instruments have extra characters at the end of their names, such as AUDUSD.iux, while others appear without any additions. This difference is known as a Suffix.

A Suffix is a specialized naming convention used by brokers to categorize and group instruments according to the specific account types and trading conditions you are using.

What is a Trading Suffix?

A Suffix is not part of the standard asset name; it is an additional identifier. Its primary purpose is to help the system organize and display the correct list of instruments that match your current account type.

Why Do We Use Suffixes?

Suffixes ensure that the trading environment is optimized for your specific account settings. They help to:

  • Differentiate Account Types: Ensure you are trading with the specific spreads and commissions assigned to your account.

  • Reduce Confusion: Prevent errors when multiple versions of the same asset exist within the system.

If you own multiple IUX accounts of different types, you may see the same asset listed with different suffixes across your different MetaTrader terminals.

Common Suffixes on IUX (By Account Type)

Generally, IUX assigns suffixes based on the specific conditions of each account. Here is a quick reference table:

Account Type Suffix Format Example
Standard .iux AUDUSD.iux
Raw None (Standard Name) AUDUSD
Pro . (A single dot) AUDUSD.
